KATHMANDU: Advance ticket booking for medium and long-distance transportation for the Dashain festival will open from Saturday.
A meeting of public transport stakeholders, chaired by Director General of Department of Transport Management Rajeev Pokharel, held on Tuesday took the decision.
The meeting decided that transport operators should arrange online booking facilities wherever possible, passengers must travel only with valid tickets, and unauthorized counters and individuals without proper identification or uniforms will be strictly prohibited from selling tickets.
To ease transportation during the festival, the meeting also decided to restrict the movement of large vehicles such as trailers (except those carrying essential goods) on the Narayanghat-Kathmandu route from October 3 to October 17.
However, cargo vehicles bringing imported goods would be allowed to ply the road if they produce customs declaration papers.
