Nepse down 58.93 points; turnover improves slightly to Rs 5.68 billion

KATHMANDU: The market witnessed another lackluster session as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped by 58.93 points to 2,470.47 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index has lost 117.95 points over the past two sessions, after posting a nominal gain of 11.58 points on Sunday. This marks the lowest close since July 18, when the Nepse index ended the session at 2,424.3 points.

The share prices of 233 companies declined, while 10 advanced and one remained unchanged. NLG Insurance Company recorded the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 184.17 million traded. Next were Sarnima Reliance Life Insurance and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 175.91 million and Rs 146.56 million, respectively.

All trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which dropped by 4.6%. This was followed by the Development Bank and Investment sub-indices, down by 3.03% and 2.98%, respectively.

Securities worth Rs 5.68 billion were traded on the bourse through 77,264 transactions on Tuesday.
