Nepal loses to Canada again in WCL 2

KATHMANDU: Nepal suffered a five-wicket defeat against Canada in its third match of the ongoing Canada tri-series of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 on Sunday. This was Nepal’s second loss against Canada in the tri-series.

Batting first, Nepal was all out for 181 runs in 46.1 overs. Canada chased down the target losing five wickets in 42 overs.

Navneet Dhaliwal scored 87 runs and Parvez Singh made 64 runs for Canada. Sandeep Lamichhane top-scored for Nepal with 49 runs. Sandeep, who missed his first ODI half-century by just one run, hit 5 fours and 1 six in 48 balls. Sompal Kami partnered with Sandeep for an eighth-wicket stand of 55 runs after yet another disastrous show by the top order. Sompal scored 21 runs off 48 balls. Karan KC contributed 24 runs.

Nepal had lost five wickets within 12 overs. Opener Aasif Sheikh was bowled by Kaleem Sana in the fifth over when had scored just two runs off 12 balls. The other opener, Arjun Saud, made 10 runs before Dilon Heyliger had him caught by Saad Bin Zafar in the eighth over. Bhim Sharki and Captain Rohit Paudel were out for four runs each.

Gulsan Jha scored 34 runs off 56 balls, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Kaleem Sana took 3 wickets for Canada, while Dilon Heyliger and Harsh Thaker claimed 2 wickets each.

This is Nepal’s fifth consecutive ICC World Cup Cricket League 2 defeat. It has lost six out of seven games in the WCL 2 so far.

Nepal will play the last match of the tri-series against Oman on Tuesday.
