KATHMANDU: The Boksihola stream in Thasang Rural Municipality-2 of Mustang, which was blocked by an avalanche, has begun flowing again.
According to the Armed Police Force, the river started flowing recently.
Mustang Chief District Officer Janak Raj Pant also confirmed that the river has started flowing.
“The river is carrying snow chunks and sediments,” Pant said. “With the river flowing again, we estimate that the risk has somewhat decreased now.”
The Boksikhola River was blocked after avalanches that fell from Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Himal accumulated on the river along with debris. This forced authorities in Mustang to warn people living downstream about possible flooding. Security personnel shifted children and elderlies from settlements on the river banks to a safer location.
