KATHMANDU: Twelve people injured in a passenger bus accident in Mashyangdi River in Tanahun have been airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesperson for the Armed Police Force (APF), a Nepal Army chopper brought the injured to Kathmandu from the accident site.
“The Nepal Army chopper had reached the accident site as soon as the army got information about the accident. The injured are receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu,” Thapa said. “Nine others are being treated in Anbukhaireni itself.”
A bus with Indian registration (UP 53 ST 7623), bringing Indian tourists from Pokhara to Kathmandu, fell off the Aina Pahara cliff on the Anbhukhaireni-Muglin section of the Prithvi Highway and plunged into Marshyangdi River on Friday morning. Forty-one passengers and two staff were on board the bus.
Authorities have confirmed the death of 18 passengers so far.
