Five injured in jeep accident in Humla

KATHMANDU: Five people were injured when a jeep met with an accident in Chankheli Rural Municipality in southern Humla on Wednesday morning.

According to Inspector Narendra Chand of the District Police Office, Humla, the jeep traveling from Garkha in Chankheli-2 towards Deuli Bazaar met with an accident at Gaurisalla on the Humla-Mugu road. “Out of the seven passengers, including the driver, five sustained serious injuries, while two others are in stable condition,” Chand told RSS news agency.

The seriously injured include Surendra Shahi (35), Til Bahadur Shahi (50) and Ravin Shahi (15) from Chankheli, and Prithvi Rawat (40) and Ramesh Malla from Chhayanath Municipality-13 in Mugu. The driver, Mahendra Bikram Shah from Budhinanda Municipality-4 in Bajura, and Mayadevi Shahi from Chankheli-2 have sustained minor injuries.

The jeep fell 150 meters off the road while attempting to navigate a turn at Gaurisalla, police say.
