KATHMANDU: Kamal Bahadur Shah of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province.
Issuing a statement, Office of the Province Chief said, Province Chief Najir Miyan appointed Shah to the position as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.
Shah had submitted his claim to form a new government with the support of CPN-UML earlier on Sunday.
Parties need the support of 27 members to form government in the 53-member province assembly. NC and UML together have 29 members.
This is Shah’s second stint as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province. He earlier held the position between February 10, 2023 and on April 4, 2024.
