KATHMANDU: Krishna Man Pradhan, who had been recommended for the position of Election Commissioner, has withdrawn his name.
In a letter addressed to the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on Monday, Pradhan stated that he no longer has the enthusiasm or desire to work in the recommended position amidst ongoing negative propaganda.
“While I remain faithful to the Constitutional Council’s recommendation, I no longer have the enthusiasm or desire to work in the recommended position amidst the current negative propaganda centered on me. With a commitment to remain faithful to any future responsibilities the state may entrust me with, I respectfully request the committee to be informed that I do not wish to maintain my candidacy for appointment to the position of Election Commissioner,” Pradhan said in the letter.
Pradhan was in trouble after a woman filed a complaint of sexual abuse against him at the hearing committee. When lawmakers questioned Pradhan about the complaint, he claimed that the woman went for settlement as she had no proof against him.
The hearing committee was scheduled to decide on his appointment at 5 pm.
