KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index experienced some corrections after Sunday’s whirlwind session, losing 20.46 points to close trading at 2,661.09 points on Monday.
Nepse gained 113.42 points on Sunday, when circuit breakers were triggered twice, and breached the psychological 2,700-point mark before settling at 2,681.56 points. The benchmark index also breached the 2,700-point mark on Monday, reaching an intra-day high of 2,737.68 points, but eventually settled below the 2,700-point mark.
Share prices of 168 companies declined on the day, while 70 advanced and four remained unchanged.
Shivam Cement recorded the highest turnover of the session with Rs 611.28 million worth of shares traded. It was followed by Kumari Bank Ltd and Nepal Investment Mega Bank Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 552.27 million and Rs 391.81 million, respectively.
Although the Nepse index went down on the day, daily turnovers increased by nearly Rs 4 billion to Rs 19.44 billion compared to Sunday.
