KATHMANDU: Suspended Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal has been released on bail of Rs 50,000.
A division bench of Special Court Chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and members Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa issued the order on Sunday.
According to Special Court Information Officer Yagya Raj Regmi, Dr. Aryal has already submitted the bail amount. “Seven defendants in the case have already presented themselves before the court, while five have not,” Regmi added.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 11 individuals at the Special Court, charging them with embezzling Rs 386.76 million while printing excise duty stickers through the Security Printing Center.
Dr. Aryal was the Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology when the decision to print excise duty stickers was made.
