KATHMANDU: Disaster incidents have claimed 131 lives across the country.
According to the Nepal Police, two people have died in disaster incidents in Kathmandu Valley, 22 in Koshi Province, five in Madhesh, 25 in Bagmati, 38 in Gandaki, 23 in Lumbini, seven in Karnali, and nine in Sudurpaschim Province as of Monday afternoon.
Likewise, 144 people have been injured in these disasters and are receiving treatment in local hospitals. Rescue operations have saved 66 lives: 49 in Koshi, 12 in Gandaki, and five in Sudurpaschim Province, the police say.
Nine people – two each in Koshi and Bagmati, and one each in Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces – are reported missing due to floods and landslides.
The floods have submerged 182 houses, while 231 houses, 84 sheds, 43 bridges, two school buildings and two government offices have been damaged. Likewise, 594 livestock have perished.
Disaster incidents have displaced 4,004 families in different parts of the country.
