KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted nominal gains after undergoing massive intra-day corrections on Monday.
The benchmark index posted a gain of 2.15 points after hitting an intra-day low of 2,442.33 points to close the session 0.08% higher at 2,488.09 points. During the session, the benchmark index thrice breached the psychological 2,500-point mark but couldn’t solidify its position.
With this, the Nepse index has extended its gaining streak for a fifth straight session. During the period, the index has logged gains of 247.68 points.
Share prices of 121 companies declined on the day, while 115 advanced and six remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 369.34 million traded. Next on the list were Shivam Cements Ltd and Kumari Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 347.89 million and Rs 281.84 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, six ended the session in the red while seven posted gains. The biggest gains came from the Trading sub-index, which was up by 1.86%, while Banking recorded the biggest loss of 1.23%.
Securities worth Rs 13.91 billion were traded on the bourse through 170,559 transactions.
