APF personnel combat monsoon-induced disasters in Bhaktapur

KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains have caused significant damage in various parts of Bhaktapur district.

The Armed Police Force (APF) has deployed its Duwakot-based No. 22 Guheshwari Battalion for rescue operations in the affected areas, according to a statement issued by the APF.

After rising water levels in the Manohara River threatened households in Rai Tole in Duwakot of Changu Narayan-1 on Wednesday, APF personnel constructed an embankment using sandbags, wire, and mesh to protect the area, according to SP Basudevi Lohani, the chief of the No. 22 Guheshwari Battalion. Local residents also helped APF personnel to build embankments, according to the statement.

Earlier on Monday, APF personnel cleared landslide debris from the road in Changunarayan Municipality-6. The landslide also caused damage to Serenity Resort located on the Nagarkot-Sankhu Road.
