Nepse up by 23.25 points; Rs 5.74 billion worth of shares traded

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted gains of 23.25 points to close trading at 2,175.40 points on Wednesday.

Share prices of 194 companies advanced on the day while 46 declined and five remained unchanged. Hathaway Investment Nepal Ltd logged the highest gain of the session with shares worth Rs 150.89 million traded. Next were Janaki Finance Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development with turnovers of Rs 148.28 million and Rs 11.93 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, all the trading groups, except the Development Bank sub-index which was down by a nominal 0.29%, posted gains. The biggest gain came from the Banking sub-index which was up by 1.69%. Likewise, Microfinance and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices were next with gains of 1.54% and 1.29%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 5.74 billion were traded on the bourse through 72,714 transactions on Wednesday. A total of 15.29 million units of shares were traded on the day.
