KATHMANDU: As many as 80 people have died due to floods, landslides, and other disasters across the country as of Tuesday.
According to the Nepal Police, one death has been reported in Kathmandu Valley, 19 in Koshi, three in Madhesh, four in Bagmati, 22 in Gandaki, 20 in Lumbini, four in Karnali, and seven in Sudurpaschim Province since the monsoon rain began in the second week of June.
Five people are missing and 97 are injured, according to police.
The police stated that the search for the missing is underway, while the injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals. Likewise, 53 people trapped in disasters have been rescued, they added.
Floods have submerged 161 houses. Nepal Police Spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki said that 138 houses, 54 animal sheds, 41 bridges, one school, and two government offices have been damaged. Likewise, 2,764 families have been displaced due to disaster incidents.
