Nepse extends gains into fifth session; shares worth Rs 6 billion traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 21.27 points on Sunday, closing trading at 2,140.97 points on the first trading day of the week.

With this, the benchmark index has extended gains to five straight sessions. The Nepse index has increased by 103.7 points over the past five sessions.

Share prices of 150 companies advanced on the day, while 82 declined and 15 remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure & Development logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 217.14 million traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and CEDB Hydropower Development Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 155 million and Rs 138.79 million traded, respectively.

Among trading groups, 10 sub-indices posted gains while three ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 2.23%, while the biggest gain came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was up by 2.96%. Next were the Others and Investment sub-indices with gains of 2.25% and 1.85%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 6 billion were traded on the bourse through 80,838 transactions.
