JANAKPURDHAM: Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has passed the trust vote.
Sixty-seven members voted in favor of the motion of confidence tabled by the Janamat Party leader in the Madhesh Province Assembly on Saturday. Out of 101 members of the 107-member provincial assembly who participated in the voting, 34 voted against the motion.
Singh was appointed Chief Minister on June 10 with the support of six political parties, including the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified Socialist). However, since the alliance at the center has changed, assembly members of the Maoist Center and Unified Socialist voted against the motion on Saturday.
Members of the Nepali Congress, UML, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party supported the motion.
Before the voting, Chief Minister Singh had removed ministers from the Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party from his cabinet.
