KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gains for a fourth straight session, gaining 15.46 points to close at 2,119.69 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index posted early gains and reached an intra-day high of 2,129.38 within an hour into trading. It, however, erased all the gains but gained again to eventually end the session 0.73% higher.
Share prices of 148 companies advanced on the day while 93 declined and six remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure & Development logged the highest gain of the session with shares worth Rs 300.90 million traded. Nepal Finance Ltd and Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 176.45 million and Rs 171.22 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, all trading groups, except for Finance and Manufacturing & Processing groups, posted gains on the day. The biggest gain came from the Development Bank sub-index which was up by 3.43%. Next were Life Insurance and Investment sub-indices which were up by 1.97% and 1.89%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 6.48 billion were traded on the bourse through 84,126 transactions on the day.
