RSP suspends Dhakal, names Burlakoti Acting General Secretary

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed Kabindra Burlakoti as the Acting General Secretary following the suspension of General Secretary Mukul Dhakal.

The RSP’s central committee meeting on Wednesday decided to suspend Dhakal for a week on the recommendation of the party’s Disciplinary Commission. Additionally, the party has appointed Manish Jha as the Acting Spokesperson.

“General Secretary Dhakal refused to speak during the meeting and spoke to the media after leaving the meeting midway. This led the commission to take disciplinary action against him,” an office bearer of the party explained.

Dhakal attended the meeting with black tape over his mouth on Wednesday in protest after the party rejected his request to livestream the proceedings of the meeting.

After leaving the meeting, Dhakal told the media that he faced harassment from party leaders.

According to the office bearer, 50 out of 52 leaders who spoke at the meeting raised concerns about Dhakal’s conduct.
