KATHMANDU: Nepali tourism transport entrepreneurs have begun studying the feasibility of starting a direct bus service between Kathmandu and Bangkok.

A study team of the Tourist Bus Association of Nepal (TBAN) left for Bangkok on Friday to study the possibility of road connectivity between the capital cities of the two countries.

TBAN is the association of tourist bus operators in the country. These operators operate bus services to different tourist destinations in the country like Pokhara, Sauraha and Lumbini from Kathmandu and vice versa.

The team is led by TBAN President Krishna Acharya. Acharya told RSS news agency that the team will hold interactions with Thai tourism entrepreneurs and government officials on starting direct bus services.

Bangkok lies at a distance of 3,377 kilometers from Kakarbhitta on Nepal’s eastern border with India. The road to Bangkok passes through India, Bangladesh and Myanmar is a part of the Asian Highway.
