KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a gain of 33.15 points and ended trading at 2,115.24 points on Tuesday.
Although the benchmark index dipped initially, dropping to an intra-day low of 2,087.34 points, it rebounded thereafter and eventually ended the session 1.59% higher. This is the highest close since May 22, when the Nepse index closed at 2,131.49.
Share prices of 203 companies advanced on the day, while 41 declined and two remained unchanged. Share prices of five companies hit the positive circuit of 10%. All of them belonged to the Hydropower group.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 363.09 million traded. Next were Mountain Energy Nepal Ltd and Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, with shares worth Rs 231.77 million and Rs 108.28 million traded, respectively.
All trading groups ended the day in the green. The biggest gain came from the Hydropower sub-index which was up by 2.58%. Next were the Life Insurance and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices, with gains of 2.45% and 2.19%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 5.55 billion were traded in the secondary market on Tuesday through 74,877 transactions.
