KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a gain of 8.26 points and closed the first trading day of the week at 1,974.50 points on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index dipped initially, it recovered and hit an intra-day high of 1,981.69 points. It, however, erased some gains and eventually ended the session 0.42% higher.
Share prices of 127 companies advanced on the day, while 11 declined and seven remained unchanged. Shangrila Development Bank Ltd registered the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 105.06 million traded. Next were Pokhara Finance Ltd and Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd with turnovers of Rs 80.69 million and Rs 80.57 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, three sub-indices posted losses while the other 10 posted gains. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index which was down by 2.5%. the biggest gain came from Non-life Insurance which was up by 2.64%.
Shares worth Rs 3.15 billion changed hands on the bourse through 49,764 transactions on Sunday.
