KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) logged a loss of 24.58 points and ended the first trading day of the week at 1,974.37 on Sunday.
The benchmark index started losing values as trading began and continued the trend throughout the session to eventually end the day 1.23% lower.
The maximum loss came from Development Bank stocks as its sub-index was down by 2.65%. Next were Manufacturing & Processing and Finance sub-indices which were down by 2.37% and 2.03%, respectively. Only two sub-indices posted a nominal gain on the day, while the remaining others ended the session in the red.
Share prices of 196 companies declined on the day, while 42 advanced, and seven remained unchanged. Nepal Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 126.45 million traded. Following closely were Himalayan Distillery Ltd and Pokhara Finance Ltd with turnovers of Rs 119.06 million and Rs 117.07 million, respectively.
Daily turnovers also fell compared to the past trading sessions. Shares worth Rs 3.79 billion were traded on the bourse through 60,423 transactions on Sunday.
