KATHMANDU: Nepal has announced a 15-member squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, with Rohit Poudel as the captain.
The selectors have added pacer Kamal Singh Airee and spinner Sagar Dhakal to the team, replacing Akash Chand and Bibek Yadav.
Chand and Yadav were part of the squad that played the 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Oman last month.
Airee and Dhakal were selected based on their strong performances for Nepal A against Ireland A. In three T20 matches against Ireland A, Airee took five wickets, while Dhakal claimed four wickets. In the three one-day matches of the series, Airee took five wickets, and Dhakal bagged four wickets.
Nepal is pooled in Group D alongside Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands.
Nepal will begin its T20 World Cup campaign by playing against the Netherlands on June 4. It is scheduled to face Sri Lanka on June 12, South Africa on June 15, and Bangladesh on June 17.
