KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has requested Qatar Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to take the needful initiative to secure the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi whom Hamas took hostage following the attack in Israel in October last year.
Poudel made the request during bilateral talks with his Qatari counterpart at the Office of the President on Tuesday evening, according to the personal secretariat of the President.
The whereabouts of Joshi remains uncertain.
Qatar Emir Al Thani assured Poudel to take necessary initiatives for Joshi’s release, according to President Poudel’s press adviser Kiran Pokharel.
Al Thani arrived in Kathmandu on a two-day state visit on Tuesday afternoon. His scheduled to hold delegation-level bilateral talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday.
