KATHMANDU: A 31-year-old woman has filed a rape complaint against CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet.
The woman, who is affiliated with a sister organization of UML, sent her complaint to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, through post on March 20. She has also charged Basnet with theft and forced abortion.
The victim has claimed in the complaint that Basnet forced himself on her twice – first at Sunshine Apartment in Kathmandu-10 and second at Tulsi Healthcare in Gurgaon, India.
The woman also claimed that Basnet sent his men to her apartment to destroy evidence. “Two men sent by Basnet manhandled me and also stole my mobile phones among other things,” she stated in the complaint.
Meanwhile, police have stated that they have taken a statement from Basnet and are collecting supporting evidence.
