KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has convened a cabinet meeting for 5 p.m. on Friday to take needful decisions on the report submitted by the gold smuggling study commission.

Dahal called the cabinet meeting after discussing with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane.

Sources say Dahal is looking to get the cabinet’s go-ahead to implement the commission’s report.

A probe commission led by former high court judge Dilli Acharya submitted its report to Home Minister Lamichhane on Thursday. Sources say that the commission has recommended action against CPN (Maoist Center) Vice Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara, former chief of the Department of Customs Jhalak Ram Adhikari, and Kiran Bajracharya, chief of the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, among others.
