KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a public notice instructing all occupants of government land in Lalita Niwas to vacate the property within seven days.
“The Special Court has ordered authorities to seize land and properties inside Lalita Niwas. Since the authority to protect the government, community, and public community within its jurisdiction rests with Kathmandu Metropolitan City as per the Local Government Operation Act, 2017, this notice has been published to take appropriate measures for the protection of government land in Lalita Niwas,” KMC Municipal Executive Office said in the notice.
The Special Court last week convicted dozens of individuals, including former government secretaries, for registering government land in Lalita Niwas as public property and ordered the authorities to confiscate the land.
