KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) ended a seven-day losing run, gaining 10.37 points to end trading at 2,094.46 on Sunday.
The benchmark index had been on a losing run since posting a gain of 54.54 points on January 16.
The market witnessed a turbulent session as the Nepse index immediately posted gains but fell to an intra-day low of 2076.01 by midday. The index then recovered and ultimately ended the day 0.49% higher.
Share prices of 173 companies increased on the day, while 70 declined and four remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 335.45 million traded. Next on the list were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Reliance Nepal Life Insurance Limited with turnovers of Rs 235.37 million and Rs 173.46 million. Share prices of three companies hit the positive circuit of 10% on Sunday.
Four trading groups posted a loss on the day, while the remaining nine ended the day in the green. ‘Others’ sub-index was the biggest gainer of the day, up by 1.32%, while Hotels and Tourism sub-index went down by the highest at 1.86%.
A total of 10.75 million units of shares worth Rs 3.83 billion were traded on the bourse through 100,782 transactions. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.28 trillion.
