KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed home ministry and security officials to complete the police adjustment process at the earliest.
Stating that the police adjustment process hadn’t begun even though it has already been a long time since the Nepal Police (Provincial Police Operation and Coordination) Act, 2019, was issued, Dahal directed the authorities to complete the process within 15 days.
“The implementation of federalism is not at the pace we all have desired. This has directly impacted the provincial government. The works of chief ministers and provincial governments have been affected,” Dahal told officials. “Citing delay in police adjustment, forces opposing federalism are questioning the rationale of the provincial government. Keeping this in view, complete all works of police adjustment within 15 days.”
Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Chief Secretary Dr Baikhuntha Aryal, Home Secretary Dines Bhattarai, Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar and senior officials of the home ministry were present in the meeting.
