Nepse up 54.54 points; shares worth Rs 8.02 billion traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) recorded gains of 54.54 points and closed trading at 2,175.17 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index entered the green trajectory right from the beginning of the trading session and sustained momentum throughout. It ultimately ended the day 2.57% higher. A total of 214 scrips saw their unit prices go up on the day, while 31 declined, and two remained unchanged. Share prices of 12 companies hit the positive circuit of 10% on the day. Sonapur Minerals & Oil Ltd registered the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 283.15 million traded. Following on the list were Nepal Infrastructure Bank Ltd and NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 232.63 million and Rs 211.39 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, all the sub-indices posted gains on the day. The Finance sub-index recorded the highest gain of 4.75%. Following closely were the Investment and Hydropower sub-indices, with gains of 3.7% and 3.51%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 8.02 billion were traded on the bourse through 133,061 transactions on Tuesday. This marks the first time in two years that shares worth more than Rs 8 billion were traded in the stock market. The market had recorded a turnover of Rs 8.16 billion on February 3, 2022.
