KATHMANDU: Three more Nepali youths have lost their lives while serving in the Russian Army, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Hari Aryal from Syangja, Bharat Bahadur Shah from Kailali, and Raj Kumar Giri from Dhading, according to Amrit Bahadur Rai, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.
One of the deceased, Hari Aryal, had joined the Russian army only two months ago, as per Raju Kunwar, the ward chairman of Waling-17 in Syangja. “I received the information from foreign ministry officials on Tuesday. Aryal had recently resigned from the Nepal Army to join the Russian Army two months ago,” Kunwar told Himal Press over the phone from Waling. “Three to four youths from Waling Municipality have enlisted in the Russian Army. We have learned that they have left the army and are currently in hiding somewhere in Russia.”
With this, the number of Nepali lives lost while serving in the Russian Army has now reached 11.
