KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs NP Saud has stated that the country’s foreign policy is aimed at promoting national interests through regional platforms.
Speaking at a program organized by the Policy Research Institute on the future direction of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multilateral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) on Thursday, Saud said that Nepal has participated in regional associations established in Asia to foster cooperation in economic, social, and cultural sectors. Regional groupings such as the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), BIMSTEC, and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue can help Nepal overcome challenges related to economic development, he said.
Minister Saud further mentioned that the BIMSTEC EPG (Eminent Persons’ Group) has been formed to provide recommendations for the future course of action within the BIMSTEC process to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation and collaboration within the regional bloc.
