KATHMANDU: Dr. Govinda KC has announced plans to begin a three-day hunger strike from Friday evening.
Speaking at a press meet on Friday, Dr KC stated that he announced the hunger strike to exert pressure on authorities to implement reforms in the health and education sectors.
He has demanded that the government and political parties conclude the transitional justice process promptly by ensuring punishment for perpetrators of crimes against humanity and other heinous offenses during the decade-long conflict, and provide justice to the families of the victims.
Among his other demands are the enhancement of the capacity of government hospitals by creating sufficient positions for health professionals, ensuring the availability of essential medicines free of cost, operationalizing Geta Academy of Medical Studies, and establishing one government-owned medical college in each of the seven provinces, as stipulated in the Medical Education Act.
