KATHMANDU: A two-day international conference will be held in Kathmandu from December 6 to 7 with the participation of high-level representatives of election management agencies and institutions in Asia and the Pacific region.
The 6th edition of the Asian Electoral Stakeholders Forum is being jointly organized by the Election Commission of Nepal and the Asian Network for Free Elections.
Heads and representatives of election management bodies from 40 countries in Asia and the Pacific region, civil society, and more than 200 representatives of non-profit and academic organizations active in various dimensions of elections will participate in the conference.
The conference is being held under the theme ‘Building Sustainable Democracy: Addressing Electoral Challenges and Opportunities.’ A total of 21 working papers focusing on seven topics will be presented and discussed during the conference, which will end with the Kathmandu Declaration, according to a statement issued today by Shaligram Sharma Poudel, the spokesperson of the Election Commission of Nepal.
