KATHMANDU: An Indian national was shot by police in Gothatar, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

Mohammad Karim, who was involved in drug trafficking, sustained a gunshot wound below his knee, according to Rabindra Regmi, the spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office. “Police had to open fire as the smugglers started attacking our unit upon arrival at the location based on a tip-off,” Regmi said. “Along with the Indian national, we have also arrested a Nepali individual and confiscated 200 grams of heroin from them.”

Police have also seized some weapons from them, he added.
