POKHARA: Pokhara is hosting ‘2nd Fishtail Racing Cup 2023’ – a motorcycle racing competition – on November 24-25.
VR46 Motor Sports Pvt Ltd, affiliated with the National Automobile Sports Association (NASA), is organizing the event. VR46 Sports Pvt Ltd is the Nepal chapter of the Italian racing team VR46 owned by celebrated Italian rider Valentino Rossi.
Michael Thapa, managing director of VR46 Motor Sports Pvt Ltd, said that around 100 riders are participating in the event. “The bike race will be held on the black-topped road around the Pokhara Stadium. It will be the biggest bike race in Nepal so far,” Thapa said. “It would also help in adventure tourism promotion in Pokhara.”
The organizers held the event on a small scale last year. Spurred by the success of last year’s event, they are organizing the event on a grand scale this year.
The winner and runners-up will take home cash prizes of Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Likewise, the top three winners will get the opportunity to participate in an international racing event, according to Thapa.
Tickets to the event have been priced at Rs 1,500 for VIP seats and Rs 200 for ordinary seats.
