KATHMANDU: Monsoon-induced disasters claimed 92 lives across the country this year.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 30 people remain missing while 168 sustained different injuries.

Dhurba Khadka, the spokesperson for the authority, said that 459 incidents of landslides were recorded across the country during monsoon – the highest so far. Speaking at a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Khadka said 142 incidents of floods, 168 incidents of heavy rains, and 168 incidents of lighting were recorded across the country during this monsoon.

The monsoon remained active for 124 days this year. Although the country received below-average rains, it caused significant loss of life and property.
