KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its winning run for a third straight day on Thursday to close the last trading day of the week 44.34 points higher at 1,988.67 points.
The benchmark Nepse index embarked on the green trajectory right after the trading began at 1,988.71 points. It continued the momentum throughout the session to eventually close 2.23% higher.
Share prices of 217 companies went up on the day, while 11 declined and two remained unchanged. Likewise, all the trading groups closed the day in green with the largest gain coming from the Hydropower sub-index which was up by 5.31%. Following closely were Finance and Development Bank sub-indices which ended the day 4.38% and 3.77% higher.
Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 201.83 million worth of shares traded. Next on the list were Reliance Nepal Life Insurance Ltd and Shivam Cements Ltd with turnovers of Rs 139.65 million and Rs 105.28 million, respectively.
Daily turnover nearly tripled on the day as shares worth Rs 3.26 billion were traded on the bourse on Thursday, compared to Rs 1.14 trillion recorded on Wednesday. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.06 trillion.
