KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its winning streak for a second day, gaining 44.30 points to close at 1,941.86 points on Monday.
The benchmark Nepse index had halted a two-day losing streak by posting a gain of 10.23 points on Sunday.
The market opened for trading at 1,942.98 points on Monday and embarked on a positive trajectory shortly after. The benchmark index maintained its momentum throughout the day, ultimately closing 2.28% higher.
Share prices of 212 companies advanced on the day, while 11 declined, and five remained unchanged.
Salt Trading Corporation logged the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 62.55 million traded. Following closely were Everest Bank Ltd and Soaltee Hotel Limited, with turnovers of Rs 57.11 million and Rs 52.41 million, respectively.
All trading groups posted gains on the day, with the maximum gains coming from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 3.65%. Trading and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices were next on the list, posting gains of 3.63% and 3.45%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 1.52 billion were traded on the bourse on Monday through 37,799 transactions. The total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 2.97 trillion.
