POKHARA: A growing fan base, trending songs, and recognition both at home and abroad, Simran Pariyar of Tintale in Baglung-6 couldn’t have asked for more. Her life has seen an amazing transformation since clips of her songs were first posted on YouTube by a vlogger on August 4. Before the video was uploaded, nobody knew her or her talent. Today, she frequently travels from her village to Kathmandu, records songs, and captivates audiences with her enchanting voice.
Over the past month, Simran’s star has risen, and her presence on social media has grown substantially. Her songs have set YouTube trending charts ablaze. From her days of singing on the way to school to her current studio sessions in Kathmandu, Simran’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. In just a month, she has already recorded a remarkable 27 songs and made appearances in some of their music videos.
The power of music has indeed brought about a significant change in Simran’s life. She is now a recognized figure in the music industry, adored by fans both at home and abroad, and has received accolades from various organizations. Baglung Municipality recently honored her with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Growing up in a financially disadvantaged family, Simran never anticipated such a rapid transformation in her life. Just a month ago, she was an unknown talent, but today she is compared to established singers of the younger generation like Rachana Rimal, Samiksha Adhikari, and Elina Chauhan. “About a month ago, nobody knew me. Now, people recognize me, take photographs with me, and create TikTok videos,” she exclaimed. “I dreamed of a career in the music industry, but I never imagined that everything would change so suddenly.”
Simran is now inundated with offers to record songs. Her first recorded song was a female rendition of popular singer Pramod Kharel’s hit song ‘Uslai Paauna-2,’ which gained widespread attention after its release. The song trended at No. 1 on YouTube and has garnered over 4.4 million views since its release four months ago. Simran credits all the success to the support of Sunil BC and Bhojraj Thapa.
Another song that has gained immense popularity is ‘Pani Pareko’, produced by Arjun Sapkota, which has accumulated 3.1 million views on YouTube. Simran also performed in the video for this song.
Excitingly, Santosh Sunar is preparing a female rendition of his hit song ‘Chhamak Chhamak’ in Simran’s voice. “The song has already been recorded, and I am eagerly awaiting its release,” Simran shared.
Breakthrough in Music
The credit for bringing Simran to the music scene goes to the popular YouTuber Bhojraj Thapa. Impressed by her singing, Thapa interviewed her for his blog. Her renditions of popular songs during the interview went viral.
Convinced of her talent, Thapa began making arrangements to bring her to Kathmandu for recording. During this time, he received an offer from Sunil BC to record a female version of Pramod Kharel’s hit song which had already garnered over 5 million views on YouTube. Thapa returned to Baglung with the proposal. “Bhojraj sir came to my school to deliver the news, and I was overjoyed,” she shared.
Simran shared the news with her mother, Manisha, who has been taking care of Simran and her seven-year-old brother since her husband went to Romania three months ago.
Thapa brought Simran and her mother to Kathmandu for the recording. He believes that Simran possesses a gifted voice. “Her voice is truly exceptional. To sing so beautifully without any formal training in music is a testament to her extraordinary talent,” he added.
During her first visit to Kathmandu, Simran recorded a remarkable 14 songs in just six days. During her second visit, she recorded nine songs in five days. She has also recorded four songs in Pokhara.
Simran’s remarkable breakthrough in the Nepali music scene is a dream come true for her mother, Manisha, who expresses her happiness and often wonders whether it’s all just a dream.
Simran plans to relocate to Kathmandu after completing her Class 12 examinations to pursue music studies while pursuing her undergraduate degree. “The frequent travel between Baglung and Kathmandu has become quite cumbersome, so I aspire to settle in Kathmandu,” said Simran, who excelled in her school-level examinations with an ‘A+’ grade.
Organizers of fairs and festivals in various parts of the country have begun inviting Simran to perform. She has also received invitations to perform in foreign cities with substantial Nepali expatriate populations. She missed one such opportunity to perform in South Korea as she hadn’t made a passport yet.
Simran’s passion for music was nurtured from a young age, inspired by her father’s singing. “I grew up listening to my father sing at home, and that naturally drew me towards music,” she added.
Manisha, who once juggled household chores and farming, now accompanies her daughter on her frequent trips between Baglung and Kathmandu. Simran hopes to persuade her father to return home soon.
