Nepal-US Joint Combined Exchange Training to be held in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The 40th edition of the Joint Combined Exchange Training between the Nepal Army and the United States Army, is scheduled to start from September 10.

The Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army announced on Wednesday that the exercise will take place in the Kathmandu Valley and run until September 29.

A total of 42 participants – 30 from the Nepal Army and 12 from the US Army – are participating in this joint exercise. The primary focus will be on sharing expertise and knowledge in disaster management, search and rescue operations, and humanitarian aid.

The Nepal Army has actively engaged in joint training and exercises with military organizations from countries such as the United States, Britain, India, China, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Israel, and others. These activities encompass various areas including search and rescue, disaster management, anti-terrorism, mountain climbing, and roles played during United Nations peacekeeping missions.

The United States military contingent is expected to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday on board a US Air Force aircraft.

Meanwhile, a 10-member team from the Nepal Army, under the command of Major General Bivek Bikram Shah, left for the United Kingdom on Wednesday to participate in the competitive Exercise Cambrian Patrol.
