KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has appointed Nepali ambassadors to France, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
According to a press statement issued by the Office of the President, Sudhir Bhattarai has been appointed as the ambassador to France, Tej Bahadur Chhetri to the UAE, and Ghana Shyam Lamsal to Kuwait, in accordance with Article 282 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.
The government earlier named six foreign ministry officers for ambassadorial roles on July 15. The names have already been endorsed by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. The President has appointed three ambassadors whose agreemos were received from their respective host countries.
Earlier, President Poudel named Lok Bahadur Thapa as Nepal’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York. Thapa is leaving for New York to assume his responsibilities on Wednesday.
The appointments of two other ambassadorial nominees – Dhan Bahadur Oli for Thailand and Ram Prasad Subedi for Switzerland – will be finalized once the host countries send agreemos for them.
