Nepse down by 31.52 points after two days of gains

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index lost 31.52 points, and closed the week’s trading at 2,009.09 points on Thursday. The benchmark Nepse remained relatively unchanged this week, as it had ended the previous week at 2,011.22 points.

The Nepse index posted gains during the initial trading on Thursday, building on two consecutive days of gains. However, it began to erase those early gains, leading to a downward trajectory and ultimately closing the day 1.54% lower.

All trading groups ended the day in the red, with the maximum loss coming from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 2.92%. Following closely were the Hydropower and Development Bank sub-indices, which were down by 2.5% and 2.23%, respectively.

Only 17 companies saw their share prices go up on the day, while 204 suffered losses, and four remained unchanged.

Soaltee Hotel Ltd recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 78.79 million traded. Next on the list were Ghorahi Cement Industries Ltd and Shivam Cement, with turnovers of Rs 69.45 million and Rs 51.62 million, respectively.

A total of Rs 1.55 billion worth of shares were traded on the bourse on Thursday. The market capitalization, the total worth of listed shares, reached Rs 3.01 trillion.
