KATHMANDU: Nepal made a winning start to MCA Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series, securing a convincing six-wicket win over Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Nepal’s strong bowling display restricted Hong Kong to 85 runs. Sita Rana Magar’s exceptional performance with the ball played a key role in stifling Hong Kong. Nepal successfully chased down the target in just 15.5 overs, losing four wickets.

Hong Kong’s top scorer, Ka Ying Chan, managed 34 runs off 29 balls before being dismissed by Rubina Chhetry. Shing Chan contributed 16 runs off 33 balls, while the remaining Hong Kong batters struggled to reach double-digit scores.

Rana Magar claimed five wickets in her four-over spell, conceding only 10 runs. Indu Barma also made valuable contributions with the ball taking two wickets, and Kabita Kunwar, Puja Mahato, and Rubina Chhetry each took a wicket.

Nepal made a shaky start during their chase, losing opener Bindu Rawal for a duck. However, Puja Mahato and Indu Barma stabilized the innings. Mahato scored 16 runs from 18 balls, while Barma contributed nine runs from 13 balls. Samjhana Khadka’s unbeaten 36 runs from 36 balls played a pivotal role in steering Nepal to victory. She received support from Rubina Chhetry, who scored 10 runs from 20 balls.

The Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series, which is being organized by the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA), also features Kuwait and Malaysia. In the series’ opening match, Malaysia secured an eight-wicket win against Kuwait.

Nepal will play its next match against Kuwait on Wednesday.
