Cabinet decisions taken on Tuesday [Full List] File Photo

KATHMANDU: The government has approved National Cyber Security Policy, 2023.

The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday took the decision, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.  The meeting also decided to approve Singha Durbar’s amended Master Plan submitted by the Financial and Infrastructure Committee of the cabinet.

Other decisions taken by the cabinet:

  1. The cabinet has decided to table the Banking Offenses and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the Federal Parliament.
  2. Nepal Rastra Bank has been granted permission to mint 150 million coins of Rs 5 denomination.
  3. Karnali Chief Minister Raj Kumar Sharma has been permitted to participate in the ‘Cooperation in Financing, Soul Humanitarian PPP and Green Program’ investment cooperation program to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, on August 15-16.
  4. Ramesh Rijal, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, has been permitted to visit Thailand to take part in the ‘High-Level Euro Asia Regional Review of the Vienna Program of Action of the LLDCs’ on August 5-6.
  5. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has been permitted to visit Sweden to participate in the ‘Engaging Indigenous People in Election’ program on August 19 and 20.
  6. Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav’s visit to China to participate in the 7th China-South Asia Expo in Kunming on August 16-20 has been approved.
  7. Nagesh Koirala, Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, has been given permission to participate in the ‘2023 ICMA Annual Conference to be held in Texas, USA from October 13 to 17.
  8. A committee has been formed to determine compensation for the land and structures on the right of way of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa 400 kV transmission line in Sunsari, Udayapur, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Makwanpur districts.
  9. Citizenships of Aman Chaudhary (Agrawal) and Sophiya Ruth Chaudhary have been revoked after investigations revealed that they falsified documents to get citizenship by descent. The cabinet has decided to charge all those involved as per Clause 21 of the Nepal Citizenship Act.
  10. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been allowed to accept 21 units of remotely-piloted aircraft drones under the Security Equipment Grant Assistance by the Public Security Department of Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
  11. Bandana Rana has been permitted to file her candidacy for her third term as a member of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women – CEDAW (2025-28).
  12. The Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Security has been authorized to create 715 temporary positions of section officers for the Prime Minister Employment Program and the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety for 2023/24.
  13. The Upper Piluwakhola Hydropower Project has been granted permission to clear trees and use land in the national forest in the Madi and Chainpur municipalities of Sankhuwasabha for 25 years.
  14. The Upper Modi A Hydropower Project has been allowed to use 9.85 hectares of land in the national forest area in Annapurna Rural Municipality-10 of Kaski for 25 years and to fell necessary trees as per the specified terms and conditions to build project infrastructure.
  15. The Nupche Likhu Hydropower Project has been permitted to use 37.85 hectares of land in the Gaurishankar Conservation Area for 25 years to build a 132 kV transmission line and to fell trees as per the specified terms and conditions.
