Two die after consuming poisonous mushroom in Nawalpur

NAWALPUR: Two people lost their lives after consuming poisonous mushrooms at Baudikali Rural Municipality-6 in Nawalpur. The deceased have been identified as Leela Ale (99) and Uma Kumari Ale (66).

A total of five people, including the two deceased, had consumed the mushroom on Friday. Lalita Ale Magar, Tara Ale, and Khagisara Sinjali, who were taken ill after consuming the mushroom, were treated at a local health post and have been discharged after their condition improved, police say.

“Uma and Leela were referred to Chitwan Medica College, Bharatpur, for treatment. While Uma passed away while undergoing treatment on Tuesday, the doctors sent Leela home stating that she cannot be recovered. She passed away at her home on Tuesday night,” Netra Bahadur Saru, a local, said.

Last year also, a local of the village had passed away after consuming wild mushrooms.
