KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police Headquarters has recommended the Ministry of Home Affairs to dismiss DSP Thag Bahadur KC from service after its investigation concluded he seized 35 kg of gold from a Butwal-based trader and retained it in his possession.

KC had confiscated the gold while serving as the chief of the Area Police Office in Butwal. After the trader filed a complaint against him, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of

Nepal Police arrested him and he was suspended immediately pending investigation. After conducting an internal investigation, the police headquarters found KC guilty.

As part of the investigation, police raided KC’s apartment and recovered 35 kg of gold and a check for Rs 1.8 million. Investigation revealed that the trader was attempting to retrieve the 35 kg of gold by paying KC Rs 2.5 million.

Since KC’s conduct goes against the Nepal Police Act and Nepal Police Regulations, KC should be dismissed from the service, investigation officers say.
