KATHMANDU: CPN (United Socialist) has initiated preparations for its upcoming general convention.
According to party leaders, the secretariat of United Socialist has been conducting a series of meetings for its general convention that is planned for February next year.
“We are currently engaged in discussions to finalize the dates and make other necessary preparations,” stated Jagannath Khatiwada, the spokesperson for Unified Socialist, told Himal Press.
Over the past three days, the party’s secretariat has been holding meetings to strategize and prepare for the upcoming general convention.
“The meetings are focused on forming various committees to facilitate the general convention and the appointment of convenors,” he added.
This will be the inaugural general convention of the Unified Socialist which was established on August 18, 2021, by several leaders of CPN-UML who were dissatisfied with the party’s leadership under KP Sharma Oli.
During the party’s formation, Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal exercised his prerogative to assign leaders to different positions. Unified Socialist’s senior leader, Jhalanath Khanal, has been urging the party to hold its general convention no later than February.
