1 dead, 38 injured in Baitadi road accident

KATHMANDU: One person died and 38 people were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Swakhani in Melauli Municipality-7 of Baitadi at 1 pm on Monday.

The bus was heading to Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur from Tichora in Pancheshwar Rural Municipality of Baitadi. There were 40 passengers on board.

Inspector Yogesh Khatri, the spokesperson of the District Police Office, Baitadi, said the bus veered off and fell 500 meters down the road. “Out of 40 passengers in the bus, one died and 38 others are injured,” said Khatri.

According to Khatri, the condition of 16 passengers is serious. They have been rushed to Dadeldhura District Hospital for treatment, he added.

Other injured are receiving treatment at Kesharpur Health Post in Melauli.
